Christopher Potter

About

I am a producer, director, cinematographer and editor in the San Francisco Bay Area with an MFA in Motion Pictures and Television from the Academy of Art University, where my thesis was the first stereoscopic 3-D film produced at the school.

For twenty years I have made commercials, documentaries, music videos, training series and short films for clients from Meyer Sound and Sephora to kinetic sculptor Reuben Margolin, and crewed as AD, DP, sound mixer and DIT on independent features. I designed and built stereoscopic rigs and ran Stereoscopolis, a stereoscopic production community, from 2010 to 2015.

I taught digital filmmaking at SAE Expression College from 2011 to 2018 and at Diablo Valley College, and I now split my time between production, teaching and software for film crews.

Current creative practice: Backstory, an animated feature produced through a virtual-production pipeline I designed, and a remaster of Library of Congress Civil War stereographs for theatrical 3-D.
